Hiring Requirements

  • Drivers need to be at least 23 years old (with 2 years tractor trailer experience) or 25 years old with (6 months experience.).
  • No DUI's in the last 5 years. No DUI's in a commercial motor vehicle of any class ever.
  • No more than 1 DUI in past 15 years, no more than 2 life time.
  • No refusals of a drug or alcohol test.
  • No Reckless or Careless driving convictions in the last 5 years.
  • No more than 2 moving violations in the lat 2 years, no more than 3 in the last 3 years.
  • No pending felony charges or convictions in the last 10 years. All felony convictions outside of 10 years must be approved by senior management.
  • No convictions of any kind ever for possession, sale, or transfer of narcotic drugs, amphetamines, or illegal substance.
What do you pay? We pay 75% of revenue with or without CRST Malone's trailer. 100% fuel surcharge is paid to the truck. Our Owner/Operators' fleet average gross revenue is $1.67 per mile. You get 75% of the gross revenue plus 100% of the fuel surcharge.

What is your average deadhead? Our average is 12-15%

When do I get paid? We pay twice weekly, Wednesday and Friday by noon through ComData. If your paperwork arrives on Saturday, Monday or Tuesday, you will be paid that Friday. Have your bills in 2 full working days before payday to get paid on time. CRST Malone uses the Pegasus scanning system, available at truck stops across the nation, at a cost of $0.25 per page. Pegasus provides immediate receipt of scanned documents into CRST Malone's Settlement department. Other pay options available are: Direct Deposit through ComData, Standard Check and Terminal Pay (in some locations).

What is the age limit on a truck? We do not have an age limit on tractors. All new leases must pass a CRST Malone DOT inspection. Tractors ten years or older must also pass a safety visual inspection conducted at an authorized location.

How long is orientation? 2-2½ days. We pay up to $1,000.00 for Owner Operators. Lease Purchase does not receive orientation pay. Owner Operator and Lease Purchase orientations are currently held at all of our operating locations - Eldridge, IA, Rockport, IN, Oklahoma City, OK, and Birmingham, AL. Fuel Reimbursement: We will reimburse all Owner Operators for their fuel cost to get to orientation.
PREPLANNING - We utilize preplanning to insure you can get reloaded with the least amount of layover and empty miles. Preplanning requires communication, and good communication leads to higher earning.

HOME TIME - We do not force your dispatch. Therefore, home time is up to the Operator. Keep your fleet coordinator informed as to when you want to go home and how long you want to stay. Most of our Operators develop lanes within our system that allow them to have whatever home time they deserve.

About Us
DISPATCH PROCEDURES - We have a company wide load board only accessible by CRST Malone O/O's. This board contains ALL available loads with rate and fuel surcharge info on the screen. Know what you are able to do in advance.
